Wilson (2010) Signed First Edition Reference
Wilson (Drawn & Quarterly, 2010) is a full-color graphic novel structured as a series of one-page strips, each drawn in a different cartooning style. Wilson is a misanthropic, opinionated, desperately lonely man attempting to reconnect with his ex-wife and meet the daughter he never knew. The book’s formal conceit — shifting from realistic to cartoonish to expressionistic between pages while maintaining narrative continuity — is one of Clowes’s most technically audacious gestures.

The 2017 film adaptation (starring Woody Harrelson) was a commercial disappointment, which has not significantly affected the book’s collector value. Wilson is most valued by Clowes enthusiasts for its formal brilliance and emotional rawness.
