V for Vendetta (1988 Collected) Signed First Edition Reference

V for Vendetta was first collected in a single volume by DC Comics in 1988, after initial serialization in the British magazine Warrior (1982–85) and completion in the DC Comics limited series (1988). Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s dystopian tale of a masked anarchist fighting a fascist British government introduced the Guy Fawkes mask that would become a global symbol of protest movements.

First Edition Identification

Publisher: DC Comics (collected edition) Publication date: 1988 Format: Trade paperback (the first collected format)

The 1988 DC trade paperback is the first complete collected edition. Individual Warrior magazine issues containing earlier serialized chapters are also collectible but in a different category.

Signed Copy Market Values

  • Signed by Moore (verified), first printing: $2,000–$6,000
  • Signed by David Lloyd, first printing: $100–$300
  • Unsigned first printing: $50–$150

The Moore signature premium on V for Vendetta is enormous. The cultural impact of the Guy Fawkes mask — adopted by Anonymous, Occupy Wall Street, and protest movements worldwide — ensures sustained demand that extends far beyond the comics collecting community.
