The Piano Teacher Signed First Edition Reference

Die Klavierspielerin (Rowohlt, 1983; English: Serpent’s Tail, 1988) is Jelinek’s most widely read and discussed novel. Erika Kohut, a piano teacher at the Vienna Conservatory, lives with her controlling mother and engages in voyeurism and sadomasochistic fantasies. Michael Haneke’s 2001 film adaptation, starring Isabelle Huppert, won the Grand Prix at Cannes and dramatically increased the novel’s international profile.
