Peter Handke Signed Firsts: A Reference

Peter Handke (born 1942) is the Austrian writer whose work spans novels, plays, essays, and screenplays — including Wim Wenders’s Wings of Desire. The 2019 Nobel Prize in Literature generated both celebration and controversy (his political positions on the Yugoslav Wars attracted sharp criticism). His early works — The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, A Sorrow Beyond Dreams — are among the most important German-language novels of the 1970s.
