Of Love and Other Demons Signed First Edition Reference

Del amor y otros demonios (Mondadori, Barcelona, 1994; English: Alfred A. Knopf, 1995, translated by Edith Grossman) is set in the colonial Caribbean. Sierva María de Todos los Ángeles, a marquis’s daughter raised by slaves, is bitten by a rabid dog. Believed to be possessed by demons, she is sent to a convent for exorcism, where a young priest falls in love with her. The novel combines García Márquez’s characteristic magic realism with a deeply felt love story.
