Joe Haldeman Signed Firsts: A Reference
Joe Haldeman (born 1943) is a Vietnam veteran whose combat experience informed the most acclaimed military science fiction novel ever written. The Forever War (1974) was a direct response to Heinlein’s Starship Troopers, replacing Heinlein’s optimistic militarism with the disillusionment and alienation of the Vietnam experience.
