Interlibrary Loan (2020) Signed First Edition Reference

Interlibrary Loan was Gene Wolfe’s final novel, published posthumously in 2020, a year after his death. The sequel to A Borrowed Man continues the story of E.A. Smithe, the recloned author-as-library-property, in a new mystery. The novel was completed before Wolfe’s death, making it his intended final work rather than an unfinished manuscript.

Signed Copy Market Values

  • Unsigned first edition: $10–$20

As a posthumous publication, no signed copies exist from Wolfe himself. The novel has historical significance as the final work of one of science fiction’s greatest writers, but the unsigned market reflects the absence of the signing premium that attaches to all other Wolfe titles. Any “signed” copies would necessarily be pre-death advance copies or a misattribution.
