The Eddie Campbell Press From Hell Editions

From Hell has a complex publication history that spans multiple formats and publishers over more than a decade.

Publication History

Taboo (1989–1992): The first chapters appeared in Steve Bissette’s horror anthology Taboo. These magazine-format issues are the true first appearances and are highly collectible. Issues 2–7 contain From Hell chapters.

Kitchen Sink Press (1991–1996): Individual comic-book format issues published by Kitchen Sink. Ten issues plus a companion volume (From Hell: The Compleat Scripts). These individual issues are the serialized first editions.

Eddie Campbell Comics (1999): The first collected trade paperback, published by Campbell’s own imprint. This is the primary collectible format for the complete work.

Top Shelf Productions (2000+): Subsequent collected editions with improved production values. Not first editions but widely available.

Collecting Priority

The Eddie Campbell Comics 1999 trade paperback is the standard collectible first edition. The Taboo appearances are for dedicated completists. The Kitchen Sink individual issues are valued by serial collectors who appreciate the reading experience of encountering the work chapter by chapter.
