The Dave Robicheaux Recent Titles Reference
The later Robicheaux novels — roughly from Last Car to Elysian Fields (2003) onward — represent Burke in his mature period, writing with accumulated authority about characters and settings he has inhabited for decades. The prose remains extraordinary. The novels continue to explore violence, redemption, and the haunted landscapes of Louisiana.
The Later Novels
Burke’s later Robicheaux novels include Creole Belle (2012), Light of the World (2013), Robicheaux (2018), The New Iberia Blues (2019), A Private Cathedral (2020), and subsequent titles. Several of these rank among Burke’s best work — The New Iberia Blues and Robicheaux were particularly well-received.
Collecting Dynamics
Recent Robicheaux novels are widely available signed, as Burke has maintained an active signing schedule. First printings are large, and signed copies can be obtained at or near retail at publication. This makes them accessible entry points for new collectors, but the ready supply means that signed copies do not appreciate rapidly.
Market Values
- Signed first editions (recent titles): $25–$75
- Unsigned first editions: $5–$15
- Signed limited or special editions: $50–$150
The long-term value proposition rests on Burke’s literary reputation. If his standing continues to grow — and many critics argue he deserves more mainstream literary recognition — even the common later titles may appreciate over time.
