Cancer Ward Signed First Edition Reference

Rakovyi korpus (Posev, Frankfurt, 1968; English: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1968) is Solzhenitsyn’s novel set in a cancer ward in Soviet Central Asia in 1955, drawing on his own treatment for stomach cancer. The hospital functions as a microcosm of Soviet society, with patients representing different social strata, ideological positions, and moral compromises.

Cancer Ward is the most conventionally novelistic of Solzhenitsyn’s major works — more accessible than The Gulag Archipelago while maintaining the moral intensity that defines his writing.
