Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Signed Firsts: A Reference

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918–2008) is the Russian writer whose works documenting the Soviet prison camp system made him one of the most important political and moral voices of the twentieth century. The 1970 Nobel Prize in Literature and his forced exile in 1974 made Solzhenitsyn a global figure. His signed first editions carry significance as both literary and historical documents.

Key Titles

  • One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich (1962 / English 1963) — The first published account of the Gulag.
  • The Gulag Archipelago (1973 / English 1974–1978) — Three volumes. The definitive account.
  • Cancer Ward (1967 / English 1968) — Metaphorical hospital novel.
