A short life of the author
Ute Lemper (born 1963 in Münster, Germany) is a German singer, dancer, and actress who has become the pre-eminent living interpreter of Weimar-era cabaret songs and the work of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. She has performed in Cabaret, Chicago, and The Threepenny Opera on stages worldwide, and her recordings of Weill, Piaf, and Dietrich repertoire are critically acclaimed.
Lemper has also published poetry and personal writing, and her life and career feature prominently in books about cabaret, Weimar culture, and the German chanson tradition.
Collecting Lemper
Lemper’s collecting interest centres on recordings (CDs and vinyl) and concert memorabilia rather than books. Any published personal writings or limited-edition artist’s books would be niche collectibles.
Books about Weimar cabaret culture, the Brecht-Weill repertoire, and the Marlene Dietrich tradition that feature Lemper are collected in the broader field of music and theatre history.
