A Rhodes Scholar who studied at Oxford and the London School of Economics, he taught diplomacy at Occidental College before entering politics.
Garcetti’s published contributions are primarily in the form of policy papers, forewords to books on Los Angeles, and political commentary rather than standalone authored works. He served as U.S. Ambassador to India from 2023.
